Month of the Ummah PDF Print E-mail
In the month of Ramadan Muslims from across the world will be united upon the obligation of fasting. Over a billion Muslims, from different nations and races connected by Islam. Although it is a privilege to be a part of this Muslim Ummah, it also carries with it many responsibilities.

If we look at the calamities and oppression facing many of our brothers and sisters it brings sorrow to our hearts. Especially in a time when the tyrants have gathered together and launched a vicious crusade against Islam and Muslims. Like the Messenger (saw) foretold:

"Nations will collectively prey upon you, similar to how wolves gather around a large feast to eat." Then someone asked "Is it because we will be few in number?" He said "No! You will be many in number, but you will be like the scum of the sea. Allah will take the fear of you from the hearts of your enemies, and He will throw the wahan into your hearts" Then it was asked "Oh Messenger of Allah what is the wahan?" He said "The love of this world and the fear of death". [Abu Dawud]

Around the world we have the ongoing crises of Palestine, Kashmir, Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Somalia and many more. Forgotten lands where the Crusaders do as they wish, bombing, killing, murdering, raping and destroying the lives of the Muslims. With full awareness of the leaders of Muslims, who have allied themselves with the enemies of Islam and Muslims and have turned their backs upon the Ummah.

Even in UK the Muslims have been subdued to accepting the wishes of the British government and forced to fall inline with the ‘British version' of Islam . Allowing the UK to savage the Muslim lands with no resistant from the leaders of the Muslim communities. Furthermore, there is constant bombardment against the sincere Muslims who choose only to follow Islam and stand firm upon it.

The Muslims need to wake up to the harsh reality facing the Ummah today and realise their obligations towards them. We must stand up and be counted as Muslims first and last. There is no selfishness or individualism in Islam. The rights we have towards each other are so immense, as mentioned:

"The Muslim Ummah is a unique Ummah amongst mankind: Their Land is one: Their War is one: Their Peace is one: Their Honour is one: and their Trust is one." [Ahmed]

We must support one another regardless of race, colour and nationality and not allow the disbelievers to have the upper hand over us. If we carry on ignoring or neglecting our obligations and instead pursue the benefits of this life, then Allah will continue sending humiliation upon us, as the Messenger mentioned:

"If you deal in usury and hang unto the tails of cows, being satisfied with cultivation and ceasing to take part in the struggle for the sake of Allah, Allah will inflict a humiliation upon you which will not be removed until you return to your deen (Islam)."

How many reminders do we need before we act? How many calamities do we need before we respond? We need to struggle to our utmost to stand firm and united under the banner of       La ilaha illallah. Raising awareness amongst ourselves of the affairs of the Ummah and responding with the Quran and Sunnah. Not hesitating in terms of fulfilling the needs of the Ummah to the best of our capability. Only then will Allah (swt) show us a way out from the numerous tragedies and give us victory, returning us back to the glory of the Khilafah, As Allah (swt) vowed:

Allah (swt) has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their deen, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islam). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. [24:55]
