Is it true that the Mujahideen are also engaged in the duty of commanding good and forbidding evil?
Without doubt, commanding the good and forbidding the evil is a form of Jihaad. The Messenger Muhammad [SAW] is reported to have said: “The best form of Jihaad is to speak the word of truth infront of the tyrannical rulers.” He [SAW] also said: “The master of the shuhudaah is Hamza and with him is the one who rises against the corrupt rulers, and commands them to the good…” Therefore there are indeed many ahadeeth in support of this fact that commanding the good and forbidding the evil is a form of Jihaad. Infact the Jihaad and the da’wah are twins and cannot be separated – there is no Jihaad without da’wah and there is no da’wah without Jihaad. Sheikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah explained in his fatawah: “Commanding the good and forbidding the evil is from among the different forms of Jihaad.” Wallahu ‘alam
